Eric Meya, the Sokoto state correspondent of Guardian newspaper who died on Wednesday, 29th April 2020 was laid to rest at the Koko road Christian cemetery, within Sokoto metropolis on on Monday 18th May, 2020
The 62 years old late Eric Meya, was until his dead, a seasoned journalists with over 30 years working experience in the profession and left behind his wife, two children and relations.
Late Eric Meya took ill on Sunday 26th April but was able to attend the state Covid 19 update press briefing held on the Monday 27th, April at the auditorium of the Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto.
However, according to his neighbours, Eric’s condition turned disturbing same Monday night hence he was rushed to the Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, 28th April, 2020, where he gave up the ghost at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Wednesday, 29th, April, 2020.
Speaking in a homily before the burial, Pastor Mrs Felicia Bamidele of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Glory Area Parish, Old Airport, Sokoto reiterated that dead is inevitable hence the need for all living mortals to ensure good relationship with God at all times.
On his part, Pastor Daniel Audu admonished all those who witness the burial not to mourn as according to him, Late Mr Eric Meya, Sokoto state correspondent of Guardian newspaper and a member of their ministry has gone to sleep in the bosom of the Lord.
“He has gone to sleep and we have the assurance that we will all meet at the feet of Christ on the day of judgement”. Said Pastor Audu.
