Former Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Dr. Danjuma La’ah, has congratulated the management and pioneer students of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK) on the successful matriculation of its inaugural cohort.

The matriculation ceremony, which held on December 20, 2025, formally admitted the first set of students into the newly established federal institution, marking a historic milestone in the educational development of Southern Kaduna.

In a statement on Monday, La’ah commended Prof. Williams Qurix, the Vice-Chancellor, as well as the university management and staff, describing the event as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people of Southern Kaduna for improved access to quality tertiary education.

La’ah who was a Deputy minority whip at the 9th Senate, recalled that he had initiated and sponsored the bill for establishing a federal university in Southern Kaduna during his tenure in the 8th and 9th Senate. While the bill was not assented to by former President Muhammadu Buhari, he credited his successor for reintroducing the legislation, which ultimately received presidential assent under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He praised President Tinubu for making quality education accessible and affordable to all Nigerians, adding that the people of Southern Kaduna were clear beneficiaries of the education component of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Addressing the pioneer students, La’ah urged them to pursue academic excellence with discipline and integrity, noting that they bore the responsibility of laying a strong foundation and building a sustainable academic culture for future generations.

He also encouraged them to leverage the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) introduced by the administration to support their studies, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their education.

La’ah expressed confidence that FUASK would foster an environment that champions innovation, intellectual freedom, diversity, and social responsibility, while serving as a catalyst for economic growth, human capital development, and the overall transformation of Southern Kaduna and Nigeria at large.

He concluded by praying for peace, progress, and prosperity in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
