The member, House of Representative for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Hon. Shehu N. Garba (Sarkin Noma), on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of farming inputs to farmers in his constituency at Kafanchan. The Member said he was doing this to help boost agriculture as the raining season commences.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Garba said, “Considering the fact that my Constituency is an agrarian community, the best I feel I can do to support the people is provide farming inputs to them in order to boost crop production.” “This is what I have been committed to doing over the years, and here again I am doing it for this year’s farming season” he added.
The items include over two trailer-loads of assorted fertilizers, irrigation pumps and assorted herbicide. In addition, the member said he had provided some food stuffs as palliatives to cushion the impact of Covid-19 among some of the most vulnerable in the Constituency.
According to him, “Jema’a Local government has received its share of the food items already while we are making plans to move that of Sanga by the time we will be conveying their farm inputs to them soon.”
In his remark at the flag off ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Jema’a local government, Hon. Peter Averik noted that, “When anyone comes into this world, there are two things that are major: one is to survive, while the other is to get food to eat.”
The Council Chairman went on to say, “The Hon. Member, by what he is doing through this provision of farm inputs, is doing a great service that is key to survival and of positive impact to the overall food supply chain.” He therefore, appealed to those that will be beneficiaries of the items to desist from selling them, but put them to appropriate use so that their families and communities can benefit from them.
Hon. Garba said, he decided to bring together just a very few representatives of the people from the two local governments of his constituency in compliance with the protocols for the prevention of Covid-19 that has become a global challenge. He therefore, prayed that God in His mercy, will bring an end to the dreaded pandemic soon.
In attendance at the flag off were some key leaders of the People Democratic Party from the two LGAs, Chairmen of the Christian Association of Nigeria [CAN] and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Jema’a/Sanga LGAs, the Member of Kaduna State House of Assembly for Jema’a Constituency and few other dignitaries.
