In a move to put an end to the wanton Killing and destruction of Lives and Properties in Sakera axis, the Shitile People of Katsina-Ala Local Area of Benue State have resolved to interface and dialogue with the aggrieved youths in Tor-Donga to cease fire and embrace peace.
In a Communique signed by Denen Adzege at the end of the Peace/Security meeting of stakeholders alongside traditional rulers in the axis held in Màkurdi the Benue State capital, it was resolved to identify the needs/demands of the aggrieved youths and brief the Governor afterwards.
Our Correspodent gathered that Shitile is the home town of the late Terwase AKwaza AKA’Gana’ who was killed sometimes last year by troops of the Nigerian Army
While condemning the indiscriminate killings and criminal activities being perpetrated by militia groups in Katsina Ala and the entire Sankera Land, the Shitile people commended Governor Samuel Ortom for his untiring efforts towards finding a lasting solution to the security challenges in their land.
The Communique also supported the Governor’s decision not to withdraw soldiers in the area, however, the soldiers will no longer arrest or kill any of the the criminals, if they lay down their arms and stop the killings and other acts of terrorism and banditry.
The meeting also supported the governor’s decision to look into their demands, only if they are reasonable.
They also resolved to stop giving out false information but to trust one another and have faith in the peace process mission.
The Communique urged all Shitile people to show love for one another and be more united, irrespective of political differences, so as to achieve the peace project initiated.
Recalled that the Benue State Security Council in an attempt to minimize the attacks and killings in Sakera axis, banned the use of motorcycles and Toyota Corolla popularly called “duck nyash” cars but all these measures have practically yielded no much positive impact as the attacks are rather increasing day by day.
