The Provost, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Professor Alexander Kure, has appeal to the State government to consider the elavation of the school to a degree-awarding institution.
Professor Kure, who made the passionate appeal during an interaction with Journalists in his office at Gidan Waya, yesterday, said the elavation has become necessary to make the College relevant in view of the emphasis placed on degrees in, especially, the teaching profession.
He said the College also requires additional infrastructure including offices, lecture halls, laboratories, and hostel accommodation, besides the rehabilitation of the road network within the institution, among others.
While appreciating the Kaduna State government, under the leadership of Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i, for the deserving attention paid to the College, the Provost noted with satisfaction that the academic standard of the institution has improved tremendously.
Professor Kure said the prompt payment of staff salaries by the State government has, in no small way, served as a morale-booster, which has translated to high productivity.
He also lauded stakeholders for rallying round the management of the College, particularly in surmounting challenges hitherto undermining the overall progress and development of the school.
