Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is set to miss this year’s CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday.
Osimhen has returned to his club, Galatasaray, for a scheduled MRI scan on the hamstring injury he sustained while on international duty with the Super Eagles.
The 26-year-old was forced off at half-time in Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo last Sunday.
Having won the award in 2023, Osimhen was in contention for the prestigious prize for the second time in his career. This year, he was nominated alongside Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco.
