NUT President Denies Guber Ambition

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers’, Dr. Nasir Idris, have denied the speculation that he is nursing ambition to contest the Kebbi state governorship election in 2023. He however said he can only answer clarion call if called upon.

He made the comment recently while addressing newsmen at his polling unit in Brinni-kebbi shortly after casting his vote during the just concluded LG election in the state.

The NUT President who is also a strong APC stakeholder in the state, maintained that he was in the state to exercise his franchise.

When asked whether he would be participating in the race for the number one seat in the state? Idris said, “I am not contesting but as you rightly said that some people are calling me to contest, I don’t think there’s anything wrong for me to contest if actually they are calling me.

“You know, I am not a social media or facebook person, so I don’t know whether there’s any group that is calling me to contest, I am not aware of it”, he said.

The NUT boss also denied the insinuation that some party leaders were not in the state to participate in the LG election.

“I don’t know who and who is not in the state but if they are not, I am here, I will stand for them”, he said.

He however commended the KESIEC for the smooth conduct of the election.

“I am happy the exercise is being conducted in a peaceful manner, you can see the security agents, voting materials and people are casting there votes”, he added.
