North Central Students Decry Spade Of Banditry, Kidnapping, Sues For Peace

The National Association of North Central Students (NANCS) have decried the spate of banditry and kidnappings in the region, calling for efforts to reduce crime and criminalities across the country.

National President of the association, Comrade Muhammad Abubakar of the Federal University Dutse, made the call in a speech in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Saturday.

The NANCS national president expressed concern over the alarming incidences of banditry and kidnappings, especially in the North Central zone, which is gradually turning into a theatre of war.

He called for governments at all levels to step up efforts to nib such criminal activities at the bud, in order to ensure peace and security of the region.

Comrade Abubakar, who emerged victorious as the newly elected president of the association during NANCS annual convention, promised to lead the students in the right direction, with fairness to all.

The newly elected president vowed to prioritize the welfare of members of the association, as well as promote peace among students.

He also called on government to declare state of emergency in the educational sector, urging for government to allocate 26% of the state budget to education as recommended the UNESCO.

The newly elected national executives of the association are, Comrade Muhammad Abubakar from Federal University Dutse who emerged National President and Comrade Aku Dooshima Deborah of the Benue state University, Deputy National President.

Others include, Comrade Aminu Ibrahim Onipe from University of Abuja as National Secretary, Ogwuche Oche of University of Jos, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Suleiman Anglo of University of Abuja, National Financial Secretary, Comrade Banji Jeremiah Gbotemi of Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, National Assistant Secretary General, Comrade Mercy Omale of Kogi State Polytechnic, National Treasurer.

Also, Comrade Ibrahim Gaius of University of Abuja emerged as Senate President, Comrade Umar Adams Rinjawa, Deputy Senate President and Comrade Audu Peter, Clerk.
