The Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) is set to commence physical verification for six thousand one hundred and five (6,105), where four thousand one hundred and twenty (4,120) successful applicants will be employ for 2021 recruitments exercise.
The NIS data analysis showed that 3,341,554 (three million, three hundred and forty one thousand, five hundred and fifty four) individuals successfully applied, while 75,155 candidates were shortlisted and invited for the CBAT. 45,323 candidates attended the CBAT and 6,105 were successful for the final screening of credentials and physical fitness examination.
Addressing journalists today at the NIS headquarters in Abuja, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Services Muhammad Babandede said that the exercise will commence within the six geopolitical zones in the country.
Babandede said that the North-East Zone will do their examination in Bauchi State, while North-West will be in Kano, South-South will be in Nigerian military training school, South-East will be in immigration training school Ikoru while South-West will do in Lagos and North-Central will do their own in Minna, Niger state.
According to him “The messages will be send in bulk to the successful candidates. The people will receive an email or text message and when they receive that message, we will published the names on our website.
“When you see a text massage which will available on our website on Monday. The applicants can check our website on Monday and if you see your name or if you received a text massage or email just go to our website and print your slip and when you print your slip you will see your center.”
He noted that there are people who are collecting money from people in the name of giving them employment.
“I’m warning that immigration service is not for sale and I’m glad to said that it is not for sale.
“We had arrested so many people just last week, I signed a letter to ICPC forwarding one immigration officer and one correctional officer who have collected almost N15 million naira from innocent Nigerians for recruitment.
“So anybody who has given money for or has asked to give money about recruitment let him or her send the information to our email or go to ICPC or any anti corruption commission near you.
We are not selling any slots to anybody. It is very clear to anybody,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Comptroller Secretary, Hajiya Aisha Rufai during the briefing said that they have gone through all the process and stages necessary for every recruitments.
“We have gotten the presidential approval, federal character commission approval, all these process were done in 2020.
“The presidential approval was done on 20th of Feb 2020 and the federal character commission approval done on March 5th 2020 and after that advertisement was required in three daily papers that is The Nation, Daily Trust and Punch newspapers.
She said the next line of action is for the physical verification exercises and medical examinations, drugs test and certificate verification.
“The candidate that applied we have the website to visit for details.
“We have a warning for all candidate because of people that are used to collecting money from people, there is no financial gratification from or to anybody. There will be officials who will make sure there will be punishment for those who are caught in the act.
“Compliance to time is key. If you do not come when you are suppose to, you are own your own.
“Only those invited that will be there and the process is very transparency.
“All those applied will have a number and that is reference number and verification form,” she said.
