…There are pictures with inscriptions of Amotekun US, UK, France, China, others
With the introduction of a security outfit by the South West governors code named Amotekun, Nigerians all over the world are making fun of it.
Amotekun, according to the South West governors, was setup to help in tackling security challenges in the region.
But the federal government through the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, tagged the outfit illegal.
Several notable Nigerians including socio-cultural groups and union like National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pan-Niger Delta Development Forum (PANDEF) South East groups under the umbrella of Ohanaeze and the Middle Belt Forum have all said that the outfit have come to stay.
But in the wake of the controversy, Nigerians have released pictures of different women with Leopard skin suggesting they are the representatives of Amotekun in those cities and countries.
In the pictures, there are inscriptions of Amotekun in some Nigerian cities, US, UK, France, China, Russia and others.
But this is coming just as the Secretary General of the Northern apex Socio-cultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, disclosed that no region under the Constitution have the right to set up a regional security outfit.
Sani who said it is good to think deeply about this issue on Amotekun, added that Hisbah is a state affair and not geopolitical zonal affair.
“Would you suggest group of states can come together and make a common law to govern the operations of the security outfit? More so in a country beset with fissiparous tendencies that come with centrifugal forces?
“I expect people to know that the constitution allows state governments to make laws on those items on the concurrent list and not on those on the exclusive list. And where the state law clashes with the national law, the law made by the National Assembly prevails,” Sani said.
