Nigerian Tackles Clerics For Gracing Bobrisky’s House Unveiling

The now-viral footage of some Islamic clerics praying for Bobrisky, the self-acclaimed Nigerian transgender, has provoked a chorus of condemnation on social media.

On Sunday, the crossdresser, born Idris Okuneye, unveiled his multi-million naira mansion in Lagos.

Some Islamic clerics had graced the housewarming ceremony and prayed for Bobrisky.

The presence of the clerics at Bobrisky’s housewarming has, however, continued to trigger a wave of backlash on social media platforms, especially on Twitter.

A huge segment of Twitter users tackled the clerics, arguing that “what they did” contradicts the Islamic tenets.

Laide Olabanji, the actor, described the clerics as “jobless guys” who he claimed are driven by “financial benefits.”

“Have said this several times, many jobless guys that call their self Alfas are just looking for what to eat, I called them alufaa, so sad you can imagine jus because of money you are sitting a prayer for a male that turned him self to a female,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The most problem we have in Nigeria now is religion, people worshiping money now not almighty God. It’s time for you now to whoship God almighty your creator before is too late, avoid all this cleric Alfas they are just looking for what to eat.”

“They should beat those Alfas who attended the house warming of Bobrisky. Why??? Because Islam frowns at LGBTQ. So, the Alfas obviously went for the money, they ignored Islamic doctrines,” a user wrote on Twitter.

“Bobrisky do house opening, like 7 Alfas sit down ground dey pray while he sat elegantly on a chair. Once again, Religion extremism is for the poor,” another user wrote.

Similarly, a user wrote: “Money can buy religion.. that being said.. Bobrisky is also a human being, who are we to judge?”

A user also queried: “I’m just here trying to figure out who they prayer for- Alfa/Hajia Idris Bobrisky? Are those women his family members? The hypocrisy of religion. One minute it’s blasphemy, but if you have money, they seat and pray for you?”
