A Nigerian diplomat, Ambassador Dr Jonathan Ojadah, has been nominated as a Hero in Peace Making for the forthcoming Mashujaa Day celebration in Kenya.

Ojadah, who serves as the Global President of the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, will be honoured for his exceptional contributions to peace, good governance, and sustainable development across Africa.

Mashujaa Day, marked annually on October 20, is Kenya’s national day set aside to celebrate heroes and heroines who have made notable impacts in the country and beyond.

According to an official letter from the National Heroes Council, chaired by Hon. Angwenyi Jimmy Nuru Ondieki, MGW, the Nigerian envoy will be recognised at a ceremony in Nairobi on October 17, 2025, ahead of the main event in Kitui County on October 18, 2025.

The event, expected to be attended by the President of Kenya, will see Ojadah officially decorated as a peace hero for his role in fostering dialogue and stability within Africa.

Council officials confirmed that all arrangements, including accommodation, have been made for the Nigerian diplomat, describing his nomination as “a well-deserved recognition of a man who has tirelessly championed peace and development.”

Dr Charles O. Wambia, OGW, CoP CEO/Director, in a congratulatory message, hailed Ojadah’s commitment to peace building and governance reforms.

“Ambassador Ojadah’s recognition underscores the importance of peace making in promoting sustainable development and stability across Africa,” Wambia said.

He said the honour marks a significant milestone in Ojadah’s career, adding that his recognition at Mashujaa Day reinforces Nigeria’s growing diplomatic footprint in Africa’s peace architecture.

Ojadah’s name now joins a distinguished list of African leaders whose efforts have inspired continental progress and strengthened regional cooperation.
