Nigerian 2 Term Senator To Contest Same Position In Another State 



A two-time Senator representing Lagos West in the Nigerian National Assembly, Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, is set to contest for the same position in a neighbouring State, Elanza News had gathered. 


It was discovered that Adeola, a former Staff of The Guardian Newspaper, had represented Alimosho State Constituency 2, Lagos State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007. 


In 2011, Olamilekan was elected to represent Alimosho Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. 


He was elected Senator of Lagos West in 2015 and was re-elected in 2019.


The two-time Senator who now said he hails from Ogun State, even though his profile is reading he was born in Lagos State, is now seeking to occupy the same office as a Senator for Ogun West in Ogun State, South Western Nigeria.


Olamilekan’s media aide, Kayode Odunaro, has also taken time on his Facebook page to announce that his boss will contest for the Senatorial Election in Ogun State and not Lagos West, a place he is currently representing. 


It was gathered that before his return to the Senate in 2019, Olamilekan had make unsuccessful move to takeover power from the then Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.


Fillers have it that in the March 26 convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC); the Lagos serving Senator sat with Ogun State delegates at the eagles square.


Political pundits feel Olamilekan might have parted ways with the leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the decided of Lagos politics.

Tinubu is now vying for the office of the president in 2023 but he has a lot of hurdles to cross, including sharing political offices to his family, friends and political loyalists. 


But Olamilekan’s media aide, Kayode Odunaro posted on his Facebook page: “Changing the Political Narratives in Ogun West Senatorial District: The Eagle has finally landed. 


“All those having sleepless nights and spewing undemocratic inanities can now brace up for real democratic politics with The People as final decider and arbiter,” he said. 


According to Odunaro, sentiments have finally evaporated with the declaration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola to contest for Ogun West Senatorial seat in 2023. 


“Game on the Yayi Team is not afraid of democratic contests. We move in the days, weeks and months ahead,” Odunaro added.
