The National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters club, Rev. Samuel Ikpea has assured Nigerians and avid fans of the country’s team worldwide that the NFSC will remain first among equals irrespective of the challenges posed by other nation’s supporters club that copied Nigeria’s unique style of supporting sports.
Why reacting to this with other questions fired at him by journalists during an online question and answer section on your soar away whatsApp platform, Nigerian Sports Centre (NSC) where he was the special guest on their Hot Seat, Ikpea called on Nigerians not to lose sleep over the matter as the NFSC is doing her best by improving on what they have done before, expansion, identification with several corporate bodies and sourcing for supports where necessary to ensure that Nigeria continues to maintain that admirable flag bearing position in the world as far as sports supporting is concerned.
He however feared the likelihood of Nigerians seeing a single, united and harmonised Nigeria Football Supporters Club again, saying that it will be difficult to be talking of making them one, particularly since all the other existing ones are legally registered associations with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The passionate sports enthusiast though pointed out that the Sports Minister can suggest ways of how existing supporters club can come together but cannot impose it on them.
” Remember,” he said, ” the leadership of most of these organisations exit separately, but the fact has to be made clear. And that remains that there were litigations before the new breed of supporters club.”
On what the future holds for Nigeria football, he tasked the administrators on the need to do the right things and develop a good structure as so much is expected and at stake if the country hopes to attain that desirable height globally.
