The Director information National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Judith Ogbogu, has been accused of preventing media from covering and showcasing the activities of the agency.
According to a reliable source who confided with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said, the director has been having loggerheads with journalists who want to project and promote the agency.
The source revealed that the director doesn’t entertain outside independent publications especially print media such as magazine, journal, including online, claiming that the agency has it’s own in-house magazine.
The source added that she (director) usually use powers within her custody to prevent journalists from seeing or having access to the Director-General.
“I can tell you that the director information is not allowing outside or independent media organisation to showcase or promote the activities of the NCWD. If you venture publish anything for the centre the woman will make sure that such publication did not see the light of the day as she wouldn’t allow the DG to see it.
“She has hijacked everything and always emphasizes on internal publication because she uses that for financial gain.
“It would surprise you that any time a journalists step into this agency and wants to see the DG, she would become furious and angry because she believes as you come you will take away what belongs to her.
“I wonder how can a director of information for an agency will say only internal (in-house) magazine would be entertained if not she has her personal interest?
“Infact, she did not started this today, she has been doing it right from the administration of the former Director General and it would be obvious if such should continue in a high establishment as National Centre for Women Development”, the source said.
You would recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, appointed Hon. Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir as the new Director General for the agency in April, 2021 after the expiration tenure of Chief Mrs. Barr. Mary Ekpere-Eta.
