The Director General of National Task Force to Combat Illegal Importation, Smuggling of Small Arms, and Light Weapons, Osita Okereke, has commended President Muhammad Buhari for approving the Small Arms and Light Weapons Commission.
Okereke in a press briefing yesterday in Abuja described the establishment of the commission as the best achievement of President Buhari, which he said would rebuild his image as President that wants the unity of Nigerians.
The Director General said that NATforce is in total is in total support of the establishment of the commission, that it would go a long way to ensuring the safety and unity of Nigerians, praying that God will keep President Buhari and enable to take Nigeria to greater height.
“We want to assure him that there is no sentiment in our operations, our desire is to ensure the unity and togetherness of Nigeria. We are Nigerians and we should stay together as one. We have no time for IPOB, MASSOB or whatever, and any person that is against the unity of Nigeria, is our enemy.
“Our desire is to ensure that Nigeria comes together as one, let there be peace in every community. For Nigerians to be killing themselves because of ethnic difference, is not a good omen. That was why we decided that every state must produce indigenes from the NATforce executives.
“So, I am commending President Buhari and the Legislators for their effort in ensuring the unity of Nigeria. We are waiting for them to come back and pass the bill into law. So that we can come together to safeguard Nigeria,” he said.
Okereke further stressed that Nigeria is bigger than any human being on earth, that Buhari has done everything positive to protect Nigerian, which he said has come through empowering Nigeria security agencies and increasing their salaries.
“However, the condition we are in today in Nigeria, there are people who are sabotaging the government and our desire is to stop it. Peace must reign, because Nigeria is a nation that has everything we need. But, it is only the management and the sabotage that are the problem we are facing today.
“That is why we are calling on Nigerians to continue to pray for President Buhari and support him in everything he is doing to move this country forward. I believe he is going to take us to the promise land that we have been praying for,” he said.
