A total of 80 aspirants have been screened ahead of APC’s primary for local government chairmanship, slated for Monday.
Elanza News gathered that a total of 81 aspirants purchased nomination while 80 presented themselves to be screened by the committee headed by the Chairman, Honorable Philip Dada.
The just concluded screening, followed by the councillorship primary on Sunday and chairmanship primary Monday, are preparations ahead of the October 6, 2021 council elections in Nasarawa State.
The only local government that presented a consensus candidate is Obi Local Government, whose candidate was also screened.
A breakdown of the aspirants shows that Doma Local Government has a total of 19 aspirants out of which one is a female, while 18 are male, the Chairman during an interview with selected Journalists said about 10 aspirants show up for the screening.
Other Local Governments with the highest number of aspirants are Akwanga and Keffi having 8 each, while Nasarawa Eggon and Lafia Local Governments have a total of 7 aspirants each.
Karu Local Government have 6 aspirants while Keana and Awe have 5 aspirants each, then Nasarawa Local Government and Wamba have 4 aspirants.
Toto Local Government has a total of 5 aspirants but 4 were screened and one did not show up for the exercise and
Of the 80 aspirants, two are females, one each from Doma and Nasarawa Eggon respectively.
The Chairman of the Committee, Philip Dada applauded all the aspirants for exhibiting maturity and good conduct during the exercise.
