As the days for congresses draws closer, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Nasarawa State, has adopted the consensus method to elect officials of the party at all levels.
The adoption of the consensus method was the outcome of major stakeholders meeting of the party held at the Aliyu Akwe Banquet Hall, Government House, Lafia, yesterday.
The decision was taken when some major stakeholders and Governor Abdullahi, all spoke extensively about the forthcoming party congresses in the state and the need for peaceful conduct during and after.
The decision was via voice votes, when Gov Sule, threw a question across that “Those in support of the consensus congresses say I, and those against say nay”, at that point majority of the voices said I, only for three voices that said nay.
According to the governor, the party has set a pase severally in terms of peaceful conduct of party’s affairs in the country, as such he said the forthcoming congresses must be peaceful and successful.
Gov Sule, who pleged his commitment to ensure a smooth Congresses in the state, directed all his appointees to go back to their electoral wards and ensure a hitch free congress.
He said Senator Abdullahi Adamu, should take charge of Nasarawa West, as Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, take charge of Nasarawa South, while himself and Senator Godiya Akwashiki, will be incharge of Nasarawa North Senatorial District.
Earlier in a welcome address, Nasarawa State APC’S chairman, Dr John Mamman, said the purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm on the forthcoming congresses of the party.
In their goodwill messages, Senators Abdullahi Adamu, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Godiya Akwashiki, all stressed the need for equity and justice, towards ensuring a free and fair congresses in the state.
