BY ISRAEL BULUS, KADUNA
The remains of Mrs. Ladi Dauda has finally been laid to rest in Kaduna with a requime Mass held in her honour at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Television, a suburb of the State Capital.
The deceased, who died at the age of eighty, was described as a loving mother, good Christian and a philanthropist who touched many lives, in testimonies given by her family members, the church and friends.
She was survived by five children and thirteen grand children.
The burial attracted friends of the family, in-laws, members of the Mothers Union, as well as members of the clergy.
In a sermon, the resident pastor, Rev. Cannon Thomson, who spoke on the theme “The Power of Resurrection” explained that the resurrection of Christ was a transformation that destroyed the power of death.
Cannon noted that there were rulers who possessed power but they could not overcome the power of death.
The cleric explained that Christians no longer encourage each other to grow as Christians, but kill each other with envy, jealousy and greed.
Rev. Cannon said many today have turned to idol worshipping and materialism, and stressed that when one has money everybody becomes their friend.
A maritime expert, Captain Caleb Danladi, expressed grief at her death, saying it was a huge loss to her immediate family and community, adding that she was a confidant and a pillar of strength.
Danladi said Mama was a God-fearing woman who was not ashamed to profess her faith in public.
He said she lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation, and will continue to be a reference point.
