Prominent Civil Rights Advocacy Platform:- HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) has admonished the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI/CIA) Or central bureau of investigation of the United States of America to arrest any Nigerian Minister implicated for having any links to the global Jihadists movements.
Besides, the Rights Group also stated that it will not be shocked if the allegations of a serving minister having a link to terrorists because according to it, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has clearly demonstrated open aversion and hatred for other religious groups other than the Islamic religion going by the texture and colour of the appointments made by the government since 2015.
HURIWA has urged the United States of America to arrest the minister if the allegations are proven because President Muhammadu Buhari will protect him going by the government’s pro-Islamic tendencies and especially the crude fact that all heads of the Internal Security agencies in Nigeria including the Nigerian Intelligence Agency- the foreign wing of the nation’s intelligence are headed by core Moslem Northerners.
The Rights group stated also that the failure to stop the massive killings of minority Christian Northerners in the North East and Southern Kaduna by armed Fulani Jihadists groups show that there could be some elements of truth in the allegation that Buhari’s government is Pro- Islam and may be sympathetic to Islamic extremists. HURIWA said for the fact that the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has failed to bring all the mass killers to justice including boko haram terrorists some of whom have been freed, rehabilitated and reintegrated, raises strong suspicion of alleged affinity with Moslem violent extremists by some top government officials in Abuja.
“It is unimaginable that a multi- ethnic nation like Nigeria, is confronted by the possible impossibility that an elected civilian President who is a Moslem Northerner, has clearly defecated on the Nigerian Constitution by failing to adhere to the Federal Character Principle but has consistently picked Moslem Northerners to head all the Internal Security agencies in clear violations of section 14 (3) and 42 (1) of the Constitution.
HURIWA reminded the President that section 14. (1) of the Nigerian Constitution says that the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be a State based on the principles of democracy and social justice.
(2) It is hereby, accordingly, declared that:
(a) sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this Constitution derives all its powers and authority;
(b) the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government: and
(c) the participation by the people in their government shall be ensured in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.
(3) The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few State or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies.
(4) The composition of the Government of a State, a local government council, or any of the agencies of such Government or council, and the conduct of the affairs of the Government or council or such agencies shall be carried out in such manner as to recognise the diversity of the people within its area of authority and the need to promote a sense of belonging and loyalty among all the people of the Federation.”
In the assessment of the HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) the flagrant disrespect of President Muhammadu Buhari to these provisions is the direct cause of the degenerated security situations in the Country since the government should not expect those alienated from the corridors of power and marginalised as if they are slaves to then behave like slaves and respect a government that is perennially in gross violations of the Constitution and treats the Constitution like a piece of rubbish. It therefore lamented that even if the allegations of involvement of some officials with global Jihadists movements are established, President Buhari will protect them from international arrest just as HURIWA encourages the USA to arrest the minister if they have solid evidence and if the information is anything to go by.
HURIWA lamented that for the first time since 1960 that Nigeria gained Political Independence, the President and head of the executive arm of government is a Moslem Northerner; The Senate President and the head of the legislative arm is a Moslem Northerner; the head of the Judiciary is a Moslem Northerner; heads of Customs, Immigration, Police, Army, Navy, DSS and NIA are all Moslem Northerners.
The Rights group stated that not too long ago, 6 Nigerians including an unknown government official were convicted in the United Arab Emirates for funding Boko Haram terrorists and for months, the government failed to disclose the identity of this key government official implicated in sponsoring Boko Haram terrorists.
HURIWA recalled that Six Nigerians are facing prison terms of ten years to life after a federal appeals court in the United Arab Emirates upheld their convictions for funding the terrorist group Boko Haram.
According to The Daily Trust newspaper, the accused were initially tried and convicted last year following their arrest in 2017.
The court in Abu Dhabi Monday sentenced Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saleh Yusuf Adamu to life in prison. Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammad Ibrahim Isa were each given a ten-year sentence.
The newspaper said the court judgement said that between 2015 and 2016, the accused transferred $782,000 from Dubai to Nigeria to benefit Boko Haram even as associates defended their actions, saying there was nothing criminal about the transaction.
The Rights group therefore expressed pessimism that the National Assembly that is headed by a ‘foot soldier’ of President Buhari can organize an Independent Investigation to probe the allegations against the Minister of Communications and digital economy Mr. Patami and if found guilty to hand him over to the security agencies of the government of the USA.
HURIWA said Media reports say there is disquiet in the land at the weekend following an allegation that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Alhaji Isa Ali Ibrahim, also known as Sheikh Pantami, has fallen on the watch list of the America’s Intelligence Service.
Ibrahim, also the Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Sharia Council in Nigeria and a former student of Salafist ideologies, was trained in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East with other top Islamic jihadists.
Before his appointment as a minister, Ibrahim was a known Islamic preacher and held what was termed ‘dangerous views’ against the American government with allegiance to Al-Qaeda.
According to a report, the minister was said to be a very close confidant of the late Mohammed Yusuf, the killed leader of Boko Haram with whom he allegedly shared jihadist doctrines.
According to Western Intelligence, the minister had ties with Abu Quatada al Falasimi and other Al-Qaeda leaders that he revered and spoke glowingly of in several of his videos on YouTube.
In one of his narratives, Ibrahim had eulogised Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi as a great leader, who joined Al-Qaeda group after emigrating to Afghanistan at the end of the September 11, 2001 terror attack on the World Trade Centre in America.
This is what he wrote about Abu Musab: “Under the Osama’s leadership, he became the unit commander of army of AlQaeda with the support of the Commander of the loyal Maula Umar (Taliban leader).
“It was after the September 11 attack that he suffered serious leg injury and was taken to Iraq for treatment where he spent a long time recovering.”
Ibrahim wrote: “When Iraq was attacked by the enemies of God, this great man joined in the fight leading his group against the US military and its allies in Iraq.”
According to Middle Eastern Intelligence, corroborated by its Western counterparts, photographs of Sheikh Isa Ali Pantanmi and his jihadist allies are trending.
HURIWA is by this statement asking that any minister indicted for involvement with terrorists should be arrested by the United States of America because the Nigerian internal security forces have all but being handed over to members of just one Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria making it impossible for any indicted minister to be produced for trial.
