Late President Shehu Shagari’s Surviving Wife, Hajiya Sutura Dies At 89

The only surviving wife and matriarch of the late President Shehu Shagari family, Hajiya Sutura is dead, a statement by Captain Muhammed Bala Shagari (rtd) confirmed.

Bala Shagari who is the Sarkin Marafan Shagari and Head of the Shagari family issued the release in Sokoto, saying, her  death was devastating to all of them.

While stressing that the late Hajiya Sutura was an embodiment of humility and quiet strenght, Capt. Shagari prayed for the repose of her, just as he added that, burial arrangement will be communicated in due course.

Part of his statement read, “With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Hajiya Sutura Shehu Shagari, the last surviving wife of the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, GCFR, Turakin Sokoto. Hajiya Sutura passed away today at approximately 3pm  at the age o 89 after a prolonged illness.

“She was an embodiment of grace, humility,and quite strenght, a devoted mother, grandmother and matriarch who lived a life defined by dignity and compassion. He death is deeply felt by the Shagari family and her loved ones”

The statement which concluded that burial arrangement will be communicated in due course further prayed for her gentle soul to rest in eternal peace.
