In a statement made available to Gurara Accord, Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and member representing Kaura Federal Constituency, Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani and his comaptriot, Hon. Yusuf Mugu of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Kaura Constituency are commemorating with the families of the victims of the attacks yesterday by herdsmen in Kukum Daji, Kagoro, in Kaura Local Government Area, LGA, of Kaduna State.
According to Gwani, “We are all one in this trying time and by the grace of God we shall overcome.” He prayed that God will give the respective families of the victims of the attack the fortitude to bear the irreversible lost.
The 18 dead bodies were today laid to rest in Kukum Daji amid tears and sorrow. Furthermore, Gwani is calling on the people of Southern Kaduna to be vigilant and steadfast.
“Today, it is Kukum Daji, we don’t know where it will be next. From when these attacks began on Southern Kaduna to this day, there’s hardly any community that has not had it’s share of the gruesome killings. If the rumour making rounds, just like all the rumours that turned out to be real, attacks after attacks, rumour still has it that there’s a planned coordinated attacks on Southern Kaduna,” has said.
With the above expository, Gwani is calling on the government of Kaduna State and the federal government to take the rumour making rounds seriously and be proactive in nipping the attacks before they occurred and not always coming after people are being killed.
“No government wait for any attack to take place before it takes action, the best measure is to be proactive through information gathering and strategy to avoid attacks. It is very unfortunate that these attacks and killings are occurring with so much ease.”
Gwani enjoins the people of Kaura LG to be law abiding while been vigilant. “No one should sleep on his guard, we must be vigilant.”
Gwani said he made the above statement based on the fact that hardly any attack had taken place in Southern Kaduna before without any prior notice by the attackers. It is on this ground that he is calling on communities to be proactive in securing their communities at all times.
It will be recalled that the attack on Kukum Daji occurred on Sunday night in another renewed herdsmen attacks where 18 People were killed and 15 people susutained various degrees of injuries.
