The election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja on the Kogi State Governorship election has affirmed the election Yahaya Bello as the winner of the Kogi State as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission in a two to one judgement headed by Justice Kashim Kaigama.

In a majority judgment delivered by the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Kashim Kaigama and Justice Baraka Wada dismissed the petition brought by the people’s Democratic Party and its candidate, Alh. Wada Musa for lack of merit and held that the petitioner failed to prove any of the ground of their petition.

On a minority judgment, Justice Ohimal Ovbiagele upheld the petitioner’s case by nullifying the result of the election in seven out of the twenty one local government areas in the state. He sacks Yahaya Bello as the winner of the election held on 16th November, 2019 and ordered that another election should be conducted within three months in these local governments.
