The Kano state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has declared its support for the aviation workers protesting the concession of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport alongside other international airports in the country.
Kano state chairman of the NLC Aminu Ado Minjibir told Kano Focus in an exclusive interview that the concession plan by the federal government will lead to loss of jobs in the aviation sector.
“Jobs are already scarce in the country so if this concession happens and people lose their jobs, what will they fall back on?
“This concession was done in the power sector amongst others, no good came out of it.
“So the concession of these airports is most likely to produce a similar result.” He said.
Mr Minjibir therefore called on the federal government to halt such plans to concession the airports.
It could be recalled that workers at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport have conducted a peaceful protest against the concession of four international airports.
