The Kano state government have distributed thousands of facemasks to Imams in the state and had given out protocols to be observed during the Friday prayers and the subsequent Eid prayers.

The state governor Dr Abdullahi Ganduje in a ceremony disbursed facemasks to various imams who lead prayers in congregation.

He said the new protocol for the observation of the prayers have been made available in vernacular and Arabic texts for all to read and comply.

He tasked the clerics to ensure that no one attends the mosques without proper adherence to the protocols which included wearing a facemask and washing the hands and using hand sanitizer.

He said part of the protocols also makes the prayers to be as short as possible and that an hour duration should be utilized for both sermon and prayer.

The imams were drawn from all parts and in attendance was the state chief Imam professor emeritus Sani Zahraddin who thanked the state government for consulting with the the religious leaders.,
