Kaduna SEMA Celebrates Disaster Risk Day In Style

In celebration of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction(IDDR) holding 13th October every year, the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, (KADSEMA), in collaboration with other State and Non-State actors, held an eight kilometre walk to herald the commemoration of the day.
According to the agency, the street walk is to create awareness and mobilize critical stakeholders, ahead of other activities to mark the 2021 IDDR day globally.
While delivering his speech at the end of the long walk, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mall Abubakar Hassan, stated that this year’s theme: #OnlyTogether, symbolizes efforts by every stakeholder and citizen of the state, to actively involve in protecting lives and properties, thereby reducing disaster risk in Kaduna State.
He added that under the able leadership of the State governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, the agency have been accorded all the needed support to walk closely with the various communities and all relevant partners.
The agency’s Czar, also said the event will have in attendance, the Chair of the the agency, Her Excellency, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, the Deputy Governor of the  State.
The ES, thanked everyone that participated in the street walk and call on stakeholders and members of the general public to attend the special media dialogue as well as other programmes lined-up.
A statement issued by the Kad-SEMA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr Ayuka Shemang said present during the  street-walk awareness on disaster risk reduction, were; NEMA, FRSC, NSCDC, Red Cross, KASTELEA, Action Aid, NCFRIDP, KEPA, KAPECOM, State and Federal Fire Service.
The eighth kilometre street walk which lasted for almost an hour, kicked off from the agency’s head office, Yakubu Gowon way, through Independence way, to the State House of Assembly  complex and moved through other major routes within the metropolis and ended at the same take off point.
