Hon. Gabriel Sale Har, member representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency (APC) at the National Assembly, has offered scholarships to 220 students in his constituents who are studying in various tertiary Institutions.
Chairman of the screening committee, Arc. Ibrahim Kogi, told newsmen in Kachia on Tuesday that the decision to offer the scholarships was borne out of the member’s desire to support and promote academic excellence in his constituency.
Kogi stated that 220 students in different tertiary institutions across the country had been shortlisted in the first batch, adding more will be captured subsequently.
“Most students cannot afford school fees and food as a result of the economic hardship in the country occasioned by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
“Some parents cannot go to the farm or buy fertilizer and we are also aware how some businesses crippled because of this virus,” Kogi said.
According to him, the lawmaker had also empowered women in his constituency through skills acquisition programs.
“As a lawmaker, he thought it wise to encourage and support his constituents through education and skills acquisition programs,”he said
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen commended the lawmaker gesture and prayed God to grant him the enablement to do more for his constituents.
