Kaduna Commends Military For Neutralizing Bandits In Chikun

The Kaduna State Government has commended the Nigeria military for neutralizing bandits in Chikun local government area of the state.

According to the government, it welcome the the intensivefication of the military operations in the state against bandits and insecurities.

In a combined military operation against the bandits in Chikun, Igabi, Giwa, and Birnin Gwari Local Government Area and other locations in the state. The Operation Thunder Strike, Operation Whirl Punch and the Nigeria Air Forces’, Operation Gama Aiki, comprising units from Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Army are presently carrying out joint operations to ensure security of lives and properties.

The Nigerian Air Force using their platforms on Thursday and Friday successfully neutralized many bandits in Chikun Local Government.

In a statement released on Sunday 10th May, 2020 by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan had expressed his appreciation to the military for the successful operation and looks forward to the eradication of the bandits who pose a major threat to the farmers in the rural areas across the state.

The farmers are now confident to till their land and avert the peril of food insecurity and impoverishment of citizens that the impunity of the bandits may unleashed due to the successes achieved by the military operations.

He said that the state government has been briefed that many bandits have been neutralized during the operation with several sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

During operations against bandits in a nearby location last Thursday, munitions aimed at the criminals partly damaged an Assemblies of God Church building in Kabarasha Village in Chikun local government. No civilian casualty was recorded in the incidence.


The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has directed the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs to assess the situation and present a report so that the damage to the church can be repaired. The Commissioner and his team are engaging critical stakeholders on the matter and will soon report progress to the Governor.
