The Southern Kaduna All Progressives Congress (APC) women leader, Hon. Racheal Averik on Friday sensitised women in the area ahead of the 2023 general elections to be part of the decision making in electing new leaders across board.
The sensitization which held at New Choice Hotel in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area attracted women party faithfuls across the 8 local Government Areas that make up the zone.
She explained that the Sensitization is also meant to serve as a wake up call for the women in selecting good leaders that would consolidate the good works of the current led adminstration of Governor Nasir el-rufai and Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
According to her, women constitute the highest voting population in the whole world and in the country, even as she lamented that women don’t occupy sensitive leadership positions
Averik noted that in Kaduna State, Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, has given women a sense of belonging by picking a woman as his deputy and she has been delivering and proving her potentials as a woman because of her mega performance.
” In Kaduna state, out of 14 commissioners, 8 are women and also first in history, a woman occupied the position of the Accountant General of the state and the party has at least 13 to 14 female Excos I’m the State, Zaria has a woman to the local government chairperson and and all of them are doing excellently well,” She said.
She however, attributed Nigeria’s slow pace of development to lack of implementation of the National Gender policy which is a catalyst to political development.
In a remark, the Commissioner and Administrator, Kafanchan Municipal Authority, Mrs. Phoebe Sukai Yayi, commended the women for re-dedicating themselves towards sensitising more people on the need to support the party considering its gaint strides of the party in the State and country.
