The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Cooperative College Kaduna, stormed the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat and unanimously endorsed the candidature of Barr Ezekiel Dyagas as sole candidate ahead of the party’s primaries and the general elections slated for 5th June.
The Students Union President, Comrade Shedrack Daniel and the Deputy Coordinator, NANS Zone A, Umar Farouk Gazal while speaking to our correspondent in separate interviews described Dyagas as a philantropist and a strategist who, if given the opportunity will make Jema’a local government a reference point for development.
“Jema’a local government as presently constituted, needs a young dynamic, forward-looking, and a pragmatic leader, which is why we are joining hands with Barr Ezekiel Dyagas to liberate the people from the challenges confronting them,” Daniel said.
Explaining why they stormed the APC secretariat, the students said they accompanied their leader, philantropist and a mentor to so many of them.
“We find it necessary to endorsed the candidature of Barr Ezekiel Dyagas as an aspirant for the position of chairman in Jema’a local government due to his tract record, competency and the way and manner he presented his agenda to us.
“We believed that if he is giving the APC ticket, we know he is going to spring surprises. That’s why we are here not just to reaffirm our support for him, but to also assure him that we will be with him from the beginning of the campaign to the end as a students body,” the added.
According to NANS, they have already set up a volunteer group to see a possible way of influencing grassroot voters in Jema’a local government.
“We as a student body. We have interest in the next coming elections. We endorsed Dyagas candidature not because he is an APC member. NANS as a body is not partisan but have interest in politics and who becomes what in any position of power,” Gazal said.
NANS call on the people of Jema’a local government to give their maximum support for Barr Ezekiel Dyagas to fly the APC ticket, stressing that it will ensure the party’s success in the general elections.
