The concluded rescheduled congresses of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jaba Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, Returning Officer Hon. Barr. Simon Yakubu Arabo expressed confidence in the election’s outcome.
Arabo confirmed that elections were successfully conducted for 17 officials across 10 wards on September 14, 2024, with a mix of consensus and elected candidates.
Five wards—Nduya, Sab-zuro, Nok, Dura/Bitaro, and Fai—agreed on a consensus approach, while Fada, Sabchem, Daddu, Samban, and Chori wards opted for elections.
“I’m satisfied with the conduct of the rescheduled congresses,” Arabo said after announcing the list of winners.
The election was almost derailed in Fai Ward, where an earlier attempt was inconclusive. However, key stakeholders later reached a consensus, which was embraced by all.
Reflecting on the peaceful process, Arabo remarked, “We heard rumors that conducting this congress might be chaotic, but we are leaving in peace.”
He added that any grievances must be filed with the Congress Appeal Committee within 24 hours of the result announcement.
The rescheduled congress followed an earlier annulment of the July 27th election by the party’s national body due to internal issues.
The successful conclusion marks a significant step forward for Jaba LGA’s PDP structure.
