Illegal Mining: Police Arrest 2 Chinese In Zamfara

The police in Zamfara State Command has arrested two Chinese Nationals, Mr Wang and Mr Chun for illegal mining in the State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, in Gusau the state capital on Monday. He said that the arrest was as a result of a tip-off by some good citizens regarding the illegal mining activities of the foreigners.

According to the police spoke person, the commissioner of police led a special task force to the illi mining area on 20 April to ascertain the veracity of the information.

The information was said to be true as hundreds of miners scattered as soon as they saw the team of the police. Two labourers were arrested and they confirmed that some Chinese and Bulkinabe nationals were involved.

Though a thorough investigation was carried out and on 25th April it was discovered that the Chinese and the Bulkinabe nationals were taking shelter somewhere in Nasarawa Burkulu. On 26th April CP led another team to the village where the two Chinese were seen with all the chemicals used for mining gold.b
