I Love You Mother

By Ajeigbe Tunmise Joseph

She fought hardly against humankind
Only to save my life to live like a man,
She Chooses to wear the black beret
For me to shine with my yellow beret.
Police is our friend!
I love my mother.

She worked under the sun for years
Only to sail my ship to my treasure,
She Chooses to anchor the dark regalia
For me to go to an island to see the light.
Police is our friend!
I love my mother.

She must have indulge in immorality
For me to have a pen to rule the world.
She Chooses to follow the government
For me to always think against them.
Police is our friend!
I love my mother.

She can’t stop praying for my greatness
Before that strange American woman.
She Chooses to sacrifice thirty-five years
To Nigeria for me to shine in Nigeria.
Police our friend!
I love my mother.

She becomes a friend to all,
She turns national scavenger
Working on political directives,
Oh! From a corpral to sergent
So sad, a sergent like a servant.

You aided my nearest future,
You found success in me
A mother to the world
For You mothered me
You wore a uniform
To uniform my life.

I love you mother.
