Gunmen Kill 2 NSCDC Marines

Gunmen have ambushed and killed two marine officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.

Sources within the service told Elanza News that the incident took place in a Sapele community of Delta State.

It was gathered that the incident happened in an area where two soldiers from the 19 Battalion were recently killed.

The gunmen ambushed the NSCDC  marine team leader and another officer who were on a patrol at  Ekeresan community waterside of Sapele LGA of Delta State, which connects with the Benin River.

The incident took place at around 5pm today Sunday. It was gathered that the   Commander and one other officer were killed. Their families are yet to be contacted.

Even though the NSCDC is yet to issue a statement concerning the incident, Elanza News reports that the area is fast becoming a haven for hostile armed men.

Another source told Elanza News that the 19 Battalion Operation Delta Safe Commanding Officer had recently advised the team not to enter the creeks of Benin river without a backup.

It was gathered that the military advised the NSCDC to ensure that when going into the creeks, they should go with two boats containing over 10 heavily armed men.
