A political watchdog has called for an immediate investigation into the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Bashiru, over alleged anti-party activities and secret alliances.

The group alleged that Bashiru had been holding covert meetings with former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, now linked with the Action Democratic Congress.

Head of Investigation, Olatunji Olawale, made the claims in Abuja, saying Bashiru was “secretly sighted” with Aregbesola in Osogbo during a late-night meeting.

Olawale challenged the APC scribe to “swear by the Holy Qur’an” that he had no clandestine interactions with Aregbesola.

He accused Bashiru of undermining the unity of the ruling party, describing him as “an impediment to the growth of the APC.”

According to him, the party had recorded setbacks since Bashiru assumed office, alleging that the national secretary had shown “double standards” and lacked loyalty.

Olawale also faulted Bashiru over what he described as the sabotage of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to fully activate the APC Progressive Institute established under the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

He urged President Tinubu to remove Bashiru, insisting that the party needed committed leadership to effectively project the administration’s achievements.

“This party requires loyal hands to market President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. Bashiru is an enemy within,” he said.

The group called on ministers and senior government officials to intensify efforts in promoting the President’s achievements, while reiterating its demand for Bashiru’s immediate removal.
