Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has sent a powerful signal of his administration’s determination to transform Plateau State through agriculture with his inspection visit to Manchong Integrated Farm, a large-scale agribusiness enterprise owned by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
The farm, strategically located along the Abuja–Keffi Road, has become a reference point for modern agriculture in Nigeria.
Governor Mutfwang, visibly impressed by the scale and sophistication of the farm, described it as a model capable of reshaping Plateau’s agricultural landscape. He pledged that his administration would mobilize Plateau youths to undergo hands-on training at the facility, equipping them with practical skills to establish similar ventures and achieve economic self-reliance.
Over the years, the farm has hosted several top government officials, institutions, and delegations eager to learn from its integrated operations and innovative practices. Its reputation as a hub of agricultural excellence underscores its role not only as a commercial venture but also as a center of knowledge and training.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara expressed gratitude to the Governor for the visit and commended his commitment to repositioning agriculture as a catalyst for development. He explained that the vision behind Manchong Integrated Farm is to replicate what is obtainable abroad here in Nigeria, bringing international standards of mechanized farming, agro-processing, and agricultural training into the local context. Dogara reaffirmed his readiness to support policies and partnerships that promote food sufficiency, job creation, and inclusive economic growth, stressing that strong collaboration between government and the private sector is essential for lasting impact.
The inspection visit is widely seen as a turning point in Plateau’s agricultural journey. By aligning government policy with private sector innovation, Governor Mutfwang is laying the foundation for a new generation of skilled farmers who will not only feed the state but also contribute to Nigeria’s food sufficiency. For Plateau youths, the Manchong Integrated Farm stands as a beacon of opportunity, resilience, and prosperity—an institution where agriculture is taught, practiced, and transformed into a tool for empowerment.
