The Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, has pledged to support in positioning the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) for a harmonious working relationship with the State Government.
The Governor stated this during a courtesy visit by the newly elected National Executive Council of the Union at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Thursday.
He said his administration will deepen citizen engagement by engaging Organizations like Sokapu in getting their input, noting nobody has a monopoly of wisdom.
” We made it clear to the people of Kaduna State, that’ll carry everybody along irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
” We’ll try as much as possible as a Government to take development to every part of the State because we believe in serving the people of Kaduna State, stressing not a particular section, ” Uba added.
According to him, as a Government, they always look at Kaduna State as one that’s why we’ll help in positioning the SOKAPU Union.
He explained that some people thought SOKAPU was only for Christians from that region but the Union is representing the entire region.
” He, however, commended the free and peaceful conduct of the election that brought the new leadership.
Earlier, the Union President, Comrd. Tabara Samuel Kato said he was going to revive the old spirit of the Union that’ll bring renewed hope to those who distanced themselves from the Union.
He said the Union under his leadership would cooperate with the Government, saying that the Government belongs to every citizen in the State regardless of who is in power.
He urged the Government to be proactive and ensure community engagement, particularly among the locals to help curb insecurity in the region.
