Gov Sule Advises Journalists To Be Guided By Ethics

Gov Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has advised journalists practising in the state to be guided by the ethics of their profession.

The governor gave the advice Thursday, at Government House Lafia, during the official un-velling of the refurbished government house press centre.

Gov Sule, who commended the press for standing by his administration since he came on board over a year ago, also thanked journalists for their doggedness and resilience in the collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.

This he said is evident through their daily reportage which has continued to enlighten the populace on the danger of the Coronavirus pandemic, which is highly commendable.

“I must however, implore you to be guided by the dictate and rule of engagement in the due discharge of your responsibility to the society”

“I need to however warn that, Government will not condone undue sensationalization of reportage and falsehood of any kind. You must be guided by the ethics of journalism profession in carrying out your assignment” he said.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Addra, thanked the governor for renovating the press centre and equipping it with modern facilities.

He appealed to journalists in the state to accird him the needed support to succeed in the discharge of his duties.
