The ascension to the leadership of Corporate Affairs Commission CAC by the newly appointed Registrar- General ,Alhaji Garba Abubakar has double edged advantage,with a highly qualified wealth of experience,as well as an insider who had grown over the years through the cadres, to bring an end to an inglorious period of the former leadership and the corporate image of Nigeria.
His appointment,though, came at a critical period of COVID and lockdown,he was able to navigate through leadership acumen to contain both the internal and external variables that confronted the new helsman with a remarkable all round perfomance.
With natural phenomenon of global pandemic of COVID at it’s peak,and artificial activities of an already saturated commision due for a major reorganisation and redirection,the task became hectic before the new management under the Registrar-General,but not surmountable.
Poised to make a change,inspite all odds,the systematic handling of the two confrontational issues adminstratively and furtituously, is now a cynosure of success recorded less than two years in office.
On inception,he changed the face or operational template of the organization, through the introduction and rejigging of many reforms,and further removed bottlenecks towards attracting more investments and investors post COVID in it’s first,second and third wave,so as to mitigate the effects of the scourge.
With the lockdown and the negative effects,the new management did not hesitate to implement governmemt policy of registration for 250,000 MSME’s free of charge, without any adminstrative and bureacratic encumbrances.
This has assisted Nigerians affected by months long lockdown with COVID and precarious business situations to initiate new ones and also consolidate on government supports to stabilise their various businesses.
It also helped in no small measure,government efforts at diversifying the economy in line with the global trends after the dreaded COVID and it’s effects..
Unperturbed by the internal wranglings orchestrated by those that believed in business as usual in the system,the ongoing reforms in the commission is one positive moves too many to transform and purge the over three decades organisation, from the shackles of corrupt officials both at the top, middle and low cadre of the commission.
This ugly developement persistent overtime has contributed in no small measure that affected the now rejuvenated image of the commision under the indefatigable leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Garba.
Inline with his mandate to ensure staff discipline, avoid corrupt tendencies and unbecoming activities,the desire to redeem the image of the organization remained unwavering and undeterred, not minding whose ox is gored ,but to revive it’s age long image known overtime,so as to encourage the best practices as obtainable world over.
This trend will be the focus of the management under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Garba towards ensuring the aims and objectives of the commision is realisable.
