Governor Àbdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state have lifted the ban on Friday prayers and had also allowed the Eid prayer to be observed with restrictions.
The governor who held meetings with religious leaders in the state had given the nod for Friday congregation prayers to hold after some five weeks without the observation of such prayers in the state.
The governor has agreed to allow for religious prayers but has cancelled all other festivities during the Eid el Fitr including the traditional durbars and other social gatherings.
The Special Adviser on Social Media to the governor Salihu Tanko Yakasai sai the government had also directed that social distancing is to be observed while facemasks must be put by those who will attend the religious places and masques.
He also said the Imams are directed to ensure sanitizers are available in the mosques across the state and strict adherence to the regulation s are put in place.
Kano citizens have been reacting to the news and many have sighed at the announcement which they said is welcome. Saidu Inusa Abdul a commentator said they praised the government for taking such a bold step.
