Ex-Taraba Workers Get Gov Ishaku’s N30m

The executive governor of Taraba state, Darius Dickson Ishaku has today approved the sum of 30 million naira for the payment of former employees and retirees of the defunct Nigerian Beverages production company limited.

The governor while addressing the people of Kakara community during the presentation of report for the ex-gratia payment of blocklog of salaries and benefits to the ex-staff said the Taraba highland tea which is situated in Kakara has drastically reduced high rate of employment in the state.

Ishaku assured that the ex employees and former staff who were identified by the committee would be paid their salaries and benefits.

He asserts that “I am happy that Taraba highland tea today employs our teaming youths.

With the company in Kakara, our women and youths are gainfully employed.

And what my administration did to ensure permanent peace on the Mambilla Pletuea has brought all the major tribe together ” he said.

He further stresse that his decision to create more chiefdoms in the state has given each tribe a sense of belonging.

Ishaku,​ who warned traditional rulers against sales of lands within their domains said he will deal decisively with any Royal Father who go against his derective.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Taraba Investment and property limited,​ Mr. Iliya Ezekiel said the Mambilla beverages Nigeria limited is a private liability company with the mandate to carry on the business of developing,​ manufacturing and marketing of tea, coffee and other forms of beverages.

He stressed that the company came into existence after the collapse of the defunct Nigeria Beverages production company limited.

“Its revival and repositioning owe a great deal to the exceptional magnanimity and support of governor Darius Ishaku” he noted.

He informed that the company employed a total of 3, 000 indigenes of the state and over 2, 000 farmers in the 27 communities through the company’s out growers scheme and distributor nationwide.
