Ekiti: Consistency in Voters Turnout, Sign of Accepting Direct Primaries-Chief Staff

The Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Hon. Biodun Omoleye, has described the just concluded All Progressive Congress, APC, primary election in the state as peaceful, credible and transparent.

Speaking with journalists at Iloro/Ijunrin ward-B in Ijero Local Government Area of the state, however, expressed enthusiasm and satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.

He added that he was able to traverse the whole state and discovered that the there was consistency in voters turnout; describing it as a sign of the acceptability of the direct primary process.

“I can tell you that I am happy and satisfied with the way and manner the process has gone so far.

“I have traversed almost the whole state and you can see enthusiasm in people and is an indication of the acceptability of the direct primary process.

“As you can see the turnout is heavy, you can’t have more than this in the major general election. We are happy because the system is free”, he said.

He also stressed that the direct primary election exercise was a mobilization mechanism to ensure that the party grow stronger and to also send a strong signer that a APC is formidable and organised party. It creates an opportunity for internal democracy and example for others to emulate.

Speaking further, he advice the winner of the election to be magnanimous enough to accommodate others and to bring all inclusive leadership; saying APC is a very big family.

“I want to advice whosoever will emerge as the winner of this exercise to be magnanimous enough to accommodate others and to bring all inclusive leadership because APC is a very big family. Also, all those who lost should accept defeat and come together to move the party forward”, he added.

However, the returning officer of the primary election, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has since announced Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the election.
