Kaduna state deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, and the Administrative Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano, have donated food items to residents of Sanga Local government.
It was gathered that over 700 residents received assorted food items as a lifeline to ease the hardship caused by the economic effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
The palliatives were distributed through an NGO, Women and Youth Awareness for Good Leadership (WAYAGL), Kaduna state.
Speaking after the exercise, the chairman, WAYAGL, Hon. Dawud Saleh Sanga, said the distribution covered all the eleven wards in the local government to help in cushioning the hardship experienced by vulnerable groups as a result of the cessation of movement going on in the state.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank the Kaduna state Deputy Governor, Dr Sabuwa and the Administrative Office to the Nigerian president for the gesture. This is not the first time they are making useful intervention to their community.”
He also thanked the religious and traditional leaders for their support in actualizing the exercise and also encouraged the beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the lay down rules in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.
He noted that the sponsors decision to step up and carry out their social responsibility by providing palliatives to help the vulnerable in the society is not on their political capacity, but as an indigenes of the area.
Food items such as rice, millets, maggi and cooking oil were given to the beneficiaries.
