COVID-19: 4800 Persons In Benue Receives Vaccination

Over Seven Thousand Health Workers in Benue State have been trained in the handling and  administration of  COVID-19 Vaccines.

This is even as the State Government through the Commissioner of Information Culture and Tourism Hon Ngunan Addingi disclosed that  over 4,800 persons in Benue State have so far received Astrazeneca vaccines against COVID-19 Pandemic.

Mrs.Addingi who is also, a member of the Action Committee on COVID-19 disclosed this to newsmen after the State Executive Council Meeting at  Government House, Makurdi.

She explained that the figure represents 15 percent of the 73,000 vaccines which were sent to the State, adding that the vaccines have been sent to all the Primary Health Care centers and General Hospitals across the State.

“So we expect the people to go to their local government areas to be vaccinated and if you are resident in Makurdi, you can get the vaccines at the Benue State Teaching Hospital, Airforce hospital and the General Hospital here in Màkurdi.

Meanwhile the State Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Board (PHCB) Dr Bem Ageda during the flag- off of the United Purpose COVID-19 Response and Vaccine Preparedness in Nigeria, held in Màkurdi informed that children from 13 years and above are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

Dr Ageda who commended United Purpose for their commitment for the Healthy and wellbeing of Benue Citizens which they have shown in their Sanitation and hygiene Promotion Programmes, also applauded the Organisation’s fight against Open defecation,  and enjoined Citizens come out and get vaccinated against the Pandemic 

“To this end, the State Government has trained over Seven Thousand Health Workers  at the wards Local Governments and State Levels,  in the handling and  administration of  COVID-19 Vaccines”

Earlier the Projec Manager, United Purpose Nigeria, Mr Nanpet Chuktu, who was represented Project Coordinator, CRAVPIN Project, Mr. Dorgu Ebiye stated 
that the main objective of the programme is to enhance the population’s knowledge on the Virus and its protection and as well as prepare Health Centres  and as well create more enlightenment on the ongoing Campaigns on COVID-19 Vaccination.

According to him, the United Purpose programme which is funded by the Government of the United Kingdom with its headquarters in Cardiff the capital of Welsh is all out to support some of the Pan-African Countries to fight COVID-19 especially Senegal, Gambia, Guinea and Nigeria.

“United Purpose is an International NGO which is actively working in Twelve Countries across the globe including Nigeria since 1999, with  the aim of fighting poverty, Diseases and also improve the wellbeing and livelihood of members  Communities they are working for in Nigeria”

Our Correspodent who spoke to some of the people who had already taken the Vaccine including Pharmacist Tiza Wanger, Comfort Azembe and Shadrach all testified to the efficacy of the Vaccine saying, for men one of the effect is high Sexual urge which they said will rather keep your home
