The Sokoto State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed state Assembly and House of Representatives primary elections across the state to tomorrow May 23, 2022.
It was gathered that the postponement amid bringing consensus candidates for all the elective positions.
According to a reliable source who is privy with the situation, Elanza news that serious deliberations were ongoing between the Governor, party leaders and the aspirants of the state and federal representatives.
It is yet unclear as to whether the parties involved would accept or adopt consensus.
However, Elanza News reporter visited Wurno Local Government Area of the state where the primary election was to take place but no delegate or aspirant sighted.
Report had it that only one of the stakeholders at the venue announced that the election has been postponed to tomorrow Monday by 10am.
“I just want to inform you that the primary election has been postponed till tomorrow by 10: am. We don’t want to see anybody here tomorrow except you are a delegate”, he said.
