Boko Haram Terrorists Force Residents To Recite Quran, Killed 12 In Hotel, Burnt Schools Quarters

Gunmen said to be Boko Haram terrorists and the Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) have forced the residents of Gaidam town, Gaidam Local Government Area of Yobe State to recite verses of Quran, killed 12 people in a hotel and burn government buildings.

A resident of the area, Mallam Idi said on a telephone that the terrorists took them by surprise and entered the city in silence.

Unlike the usual way of shooting sporadically on the air to scare residents, Idi said the terrorists did not fire a single shot neither did they use vehicles to enter the community.

“Upon their entrance, they asked some of the residents to recite verses of the Qur’an before they either allowed them or get killed,” Idi said adding that the Boko Haram members burned down the staff quarters of the nearby Government Science and Technical College in Geidam.

It was gathered that the terrorists attacked a popular bar in the town around 10pm, killed some while others are now receiving treatment at the Geidam General Hospitals for various injuries.

It was gathered that the terrorists arrived on 15 motorcycles at the outskirts of the town and entered the town on foot.

“They came by foot and burnt three staff quarters at the GSTC Geidam. We also got reports that they went to ungwar Kweri where some commercial sex workers are residing and kill 11 people there. At GSTC, I understand that only one person died,” another resident said.

Yobe State governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, had last month lifted a ban on the use of motorcycles in some parts of the state. Motorcycles are the preferred means of transportation by the terrorists.
