Birthday: National Executive Council Rejoices With SWAN President, Ahmed Aigbona

National Executive Council, NEC of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has rejoiced with its President, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona on the occasion of his birthday; 7 day of June, 2020.

The SWAN NEC described Aigbona as a good driver of members’ welfare and charismatic leader.

In a statement signed by the Association’s Secretary General, Comrade Mike Oboh on Saturday evening, wishes the SWAN President a year filled with good luck, good health, and much happiness.

Oboh commends Aigbona’s discipline, diligence and courage to repositioning the Association, and his focus towards bringing back the lost glory of  SWAN in the country.

In the congratulatory message, the Secretary General also applauds Aigbona, adding that his exemplary leadership is commendable.

Aigbona is a veteran Sports writer,  who has greatly contributed to the development of the industry, with media experience spanning 21 years.

He started his Sports Journalism career with Business Booster Magazine and Heart Magazine in Lagos respectively.

The SWAN President is currently with Afenmaesan Magazine in Edo State. He is a sports historian, star sports commentator, and a sports feature writer.

In the history of SWAN, since its was funded in 1964, Aigbona was the first SWAN Chairman to be elected twice in the Mid-Western region; the then Bendel state, and the present Edo State in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

He was unanimously elected last year in Abuja as the new  National President of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN); an affiliate of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Aigbona is known for his good working relationship with the public and private establishment: and he became a household name in the sporting arena for his wide media knowledge in Sports journalism.

As SWAN wishes him the very best of the season, the Secretary General of the Association noted that the SWAN President’s birthday will be celebrated across the country by various state Chapters of the Association.
