A Civil Society Organization in Kaduna State – Kowa Prosperity & Prosperity Rights Initiative has called on the Government of Kaduna state, under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam Nasir el-rufai to be compassionate, rescue those in captivity and ensure adequate security across the state.
The CSO made the call following the spade of kidnapping, killings and attacks on various communities that have become so alarming in Kaduna State over time.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Kaduna, the Executive Director of Kowa Prosperity & Progressive Rights Initiative [KPPRI], Mike Maikarfi said, “Happenings around the state are so alarming and have become sources of serious worry to every resident of Kaduna state and to all Nigerians.”
Maikarfi laments that, “No one feels safe in Kaduna State any longer as nobody can predict what will happen the next moment.”
Expressing serious worry and shock over the number of students of the Forestry Research Institute in Kaduna that are still in captivity for nearly 2 months now, and the students of Greenfield University, Kaduna that were kidnapped over 10 days ago; the merciless way their abductors gruesomely murdered five of them in cold blood; coupled with the plight of all those students and other people that have been taken captives by these armed bandits, the CSO calls on the government of Kaduna State to, as a matter of life and death, do all it can to recue all victims of abduction and re-unite them to their families.
The organization suggests that, while Kaduna State government and security agencies do not need to make public the strategies they are employing through the various avenues they are exploring to secure the safe release of those students and others in captivity; also calls on the government to not leave any stone unturned until the release of all victims of abduction have been secured across the state.
The CSO also charges the government to re-double her efforts and employ all possible means to ensure that Kaduna state is safe for all, particularly now that the rainy season is here.
While calling on Kaduna State government to desist from engaging in any verbal battle of tying to absolve government of the security challenges facing the state, the Organization charges Governor Nasir el-rufai to take full responsibility for the security of lives and properties of every law abiding citizen in the state which is the primary responsibility of every responsible government.
