Bandits in their large number in the early hours of today attacked the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) Afaka Kaduna, killing two officers and kidnapped Major Datong.
Reports said the Bandit carried out the attack on 24 August, 2021 at about 0125hrs.
The Defense officials are yet to confirmed the attack despite a leak memo concerning the incident.
Residents of the area have also confirmed an attack to Elanza News.
NDA is where Nigeria military cadets are trained and is located in the community where over 30 students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State were kidnapped.
A military communication seen by Elanza News stated:
“BANDITS ATTACK: On 24 Aug 21 at about 0125hrs, bandits in their large number attacked NDA Afaka and kidnapped 1 Offr; Maj Datong while Lt Cdr Wulah and Flt Lt CM Okoronwo were shot dead. 2Lt Onah sustained gun shot injury and currently receiving treatment in NDA Medical Centre. This is for your awareness, Sir.”
Elanza News reports that the Nigerian Defence Academy is a military university based in Kaduna, Nigeria that trains officer cadets for commissioning into one of the three services of the Nigerian Armed Forces: the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. The duration of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy is five years. Nigerians have expressed fear that if such a facility can be attack by Bandits, the security situation in Nigeria has gotten out of hand.
