” We are calling on the Kaduna State government and the security agencies to rise up to their full constitutional responsibilities, even as we appeal to our communities to recourse to the law and report any suspicious elements to the security agencies as soon as possible.

On Sunday, 04 July, 2021, Katsit, a community under the Bajju Traditional Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government of Kaduna State, came under severe attack by bandits suspected to be Fulani Militia. They shot at anyone on sight and killed Mr. Dogara Joseph (25) while
Messrs Yammai Musa, Allahbamu Yakubu, ThankGod Dauda from Ungwan Zamani and Miss Happiness, a student of Baptist School of Health & Technology Kafanchan sustained various degrees of injuries.

While this attack was going on in Katsit, another one was launched at the border town between Kajju and Kaningkon where bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen gruesomely killed one Mr. Musa Banet (41), a father of four Children, from Afana-Daji who was fishing at a stream bordering the two communities.

The Bajju Development Association (BADA) is saddened by this unfortunate development. Hence, we will not fold our hands and allow a repeat of this attack on our innocent citizens that have been going about their normal lives struggling to make ends meet.

We wish to appeal to our people to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands. However, we wish to call on our communities and the entire Southern Kaduna people to be more vigilant and circumspect in the face of these unprovokable and unwarranted attacks. It seems the evil days are coming back again and this time around, we will not stand and watch innocent citizens lives being wasted without any form of resistance.

We are by this statement reinforcing the call by the Emir of Zazzau, Alh. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli on citizens to defend themselves against any aggressor. We are putting our people and by extension Southern Kaduna on alert to rise to the occasion of defending themselves against these killer herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers and aggressors. Those days where we just folded our hands and allowed the aggressors killed us, destroyed our properties are over. Never again should we allow this carnage continue while we count our losses.

BADA has been informed that some Fulani hamlets/settlements have become safe heavens for those criminal Fulani militias to launch coordinated attacks on Bajju communities and other communities in Southern Kaduna. We are appealing to the security agencies to investigate and arrest those Fulani settlements that have provided cover/shield to those criminal elements.

We are calling on the Kaduna State government and the security agencies to rise up to their full constitutional responsibilities, even as we appeal to our communities to recourse to the law and report any suspicious elements to the security agencies as soon as possible.
Finally, we would to like to appreciate the role of the Security agencies by ensuring that the situation at those two separate incidences were not allowed to degenate to the break of law and order. We enjoin our communities to remain law abiding and vigilant as it is important to pray but watch.
